Cast Bios

Andy has performed his choreographic works at more than two thousand venues in thirty countries, including London’s Southbank Center, New York’s Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, The Seoul Arts Center, Berlin’s Akademie Der Künste, The Stadsschouwburg of Amsterdam, The Kravis Center, and countless others.  He has been a featured performer on CBS’s Late Night with David Letterman, on the A&E Network, MTV, HBO, Canada’s Musique Plus, Germany’s ARTE Network, The BBC and Madrid’s Telecinco.  Andy holds a BA in Theatre from Binghamton University and an MBA from Syracuse University.  He lectures on entrepreneurship and offers choreographic workshops at schools and conservatories throughout the world.  Andy is an Artist-in-Residence of Binghamton University’s Department of Theatre, and lives in Binghamton, NY with his wife, Carol, and their two children, Talia and Elias.

Serena has cultivated a unique blend of athleticism and artistic expression. Born with a love for performance, she dedicated herself to competitive dance in various styles, with jazz being her favorite, for 15 years. She continued to find her journey into the world of athletics, which led her to an athletic career as a division 1 track and field athlete at Binghamton University. As a jack of all trades, Serena has experienced a seamless transition through different facets of life. As a woman with an imaginative nature, she also likes to write poetry in her free time.

M-Jay He is a Chinese actor, director, choreographer, and musical theater educator. An accomplished triple-threat performer, M-Jay joined the Chinese national production of Cats in 2012 and 2013. While continuing to perform, M-Jay added professional directing and choreography credits to his resume. As an assistant choreographer, He joined Neverland: Peter Pan with Broadway Asia and China Broadway Entertainment, as well as productions of Murder Ballad and Fosse. M-Jay created the original Chinese translation of 42nd Street, which premiered at the Beijing Dance Academy, China’s premier music theatre training program. M-Jay was a visiting professor and director at the Beijing Dance Academy, teaching jazz dance, music theatre history, and musical theatre techniques. He also developed the music theatre dance curriculum for the Communication University of China musical theatre program.

In April 2023, M-Jay started his professional acting career in the United States. He is a dancer in the acrobatic dance group GALUMPHA. Also, his theatre credits include Billy Elliot, Wizard of Oz, White Christmas, Kinky Boots, and Anything Goes.

M-Jay received an M.F.A. from Beijing Dance Academy, an M.M. from Carthage College, an M.A. from Binghamton University, and his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Hunan Normal University.

Gil Young Choi has never had as much fun doing anything in his entire life as he has had in the buffet line--but being in Galumpha is a (somewhat) close second. His most recent work includes buffets such as The Old Country Buffet, the Grand China Buffet, Ponderosa, A Westfall Christmass: Parts I & II, and Royal Indian's Lunch Buffet.

Christian DiRado-Owens comes to Galumpha with gratitude and a voracious appetite. As a dancer, he brings a few fond years of experience in Morris folk dancing with the Binghamton Morris Men. Outside of dance, Christian received a B.S. in Development Sociology from Cornell University and an M.A. in Native American Languages and Linguistics from the University of Arizona. He has worked at home and abroad in the fields of sustainable food systems, nutrition, food justice, and Indigenous language reclamation as a farm to school coordinator in Upstate NY; a food rescue coordinator in Binghamton, NY; a dietary diversity researcher in South-Central India; a farmhand in Colombia; and a field linguist in Arizona and in the Northwest Amazon. Christian likes to cook and eat with his friends and family, spend time in nature, and stretch as much meaning and magic out of the honey-laden filo dough of life as possible. He is grateful for the opportunity to dance with Gil and Andy. Currently, his favorite fruits are wild strawberries. 

Howard Klein has worked for many years as a professional AEA Production Stage Manager Off-Broadway and Regionally.  He most recently worked at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts as Producing Coordinator in the Theatrical Production Department.  Howard teaches Stage Management at SUNY Binghamton and is the Stage Manager for the Department of Performing and Media Arts at Cornell University.
